What does fMRI mean?
Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) is a technique for measuring and mapping brain activity. It is a non-invasive way to assess brain function using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) signal changes associated with functional brain activity. The most widely used method is based on Blood Oxygenation Level Dependent (BOLD) contrast imaging. When a brain area is more active, it consumes more oxygen, so blood flow increases in that area.
