What does IRN mean?
Invoice Reference Number (IRN) is a 64 character unique number generated by the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) on uploading the invoices electronically. IRN is used to tag and identify every valid e-invoice generated in India.
IRN is generated using a hash generation algorithm based on the combination of the supplier Goods and Services Tax Identification Number (GSTIN), document type (invoice, credit note, debit note), document number, and year of the invoice.
