What does FBS mean?
Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) measures the amount of glucose (sugar) in a person's blood glucose level after an overnight fast.
The fasting period typically lasts for at least 8 hours, and the test is performed in the morning before the person has consumed any food or beverages (except water).
FBS is often used to check for diabetes and prediabetes.
A normal FBS level is between 70 and 100 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL).
An FBS level of 100 to 125 mg/dL is considered prediabetes.
An FBS level of 126 mg/dL or higher is considered diabetes.
