What does AMPS mean?
Aviation Mission Planning System (AMPS) is a subordinate system of the Army Battle Command System, Maneuver Control System (MCS). AMPS software is hosted on a portable ruggedized workstation, Lightweight Computer Unit (LC), under the Army Common Hardware/Software (CHS) contract, with peripheral devices such as the data transfer system, printer, MO drive and CD-ROM drive. The AMPS automates battalion and company mission planning and distribution of mission files between units. The system also provides mission data loading into the aircraft for navigation, communications, weapons, and post mission information.
