“Migration and Mobility” axis (aMiMo) of the French Institute for Anatolian Studies is glad to announce the first talk in the Current Issues on Migration seminar series, held in collaboration with the Migration Studies Association (GAR).
Current Issues on Migration seminar series aims to bring together social scientists and members of the civil society to present and discuss each month an issue related to international migration and mobilities in Turkey. This year we will focus on crucial aspects of refugees circulation and installation in Turkey, starting with Education (from October to December), and Work (from January to March).
Education of Syrian refugee children
from the perspective of their parents

The second talk of the Current Issues on Migration series will be presented by Dr. Ayşe Beyazova who will tackle the education of Syrian children in Turkey from their parents’ points of views. Her presentation will be based on her doctoral thesis, which she completed in 2017 at Boğaziçi University. It tackles the possibilities and the limits of the education system for refugee children and analyzes the resources and strategies that are used by Syrian parents within this system. Dr. Beyazova works mainly on subjects related to children rights, participation of children, gender equality and social integration of refugee children.
The presentation will last around 45 minutes and will be followed by a question and answer session.

Suriyeli Mülteci Çocukların Eğitimi

Güncel Göç Meseleleri seminerler dizisinin ikinci konuşmasında, Dr. Ayşe Beyazova ebeveynlerinin bakış açısından Suriyeli mülteci çocukların Türkiye’deki eğitimini ele alacaktır. 2017 yılında Boğaziçi Üniversitesi’nde tamamladığı doktora tezinde, Beyazova eğitim sisteminin mülteci çocuklara sunduğu olanak ve kısıtlılıkları ve Suriyeli ebeveynlerin bunlara karşılık kullandıkları kaynak ve stratejileri incelemiştir. Beyazova, çocuk hakları, çocuk katılımı, toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliği ve mülteci çocukların sosyal uyumu konularında çalışmaktadır.
Seminer, yaklaşık 45 dakika sürecek sunumun ardından dinleyicilerin katılacağı soru-cevap bölümüyle tamamlanacaktır.

La deuxième séance du cycle de séminaires Enjeux Actuels des Migrations sera présentée par Dr. Ayşe Beyazova et portera sur l’éducation des enfants Syriens en Turquie du point de vue de leurs parents. La communication repose sur une thèse de doctorat soutenue en 2017. Celle-ci porte sur les possibilités et les limites du système éducatif pour les enfants Syriens réfugiés en Turquie et analyse les ressources et stratégies employées par les parents de ceux-ci. Les recherches de Beyazova portent sur les droits et la participation des enfants, l’égalité des sexes et l’intégration sociale des enfants réfugiés.
L’intervention durera environ 45 minutes, suivie d’un débat avec le public.
