
Wahid Amin
Wahid Amin is an intellectual historian specializing in medieval Arabic and Islamic thought. Having previously obtained a BSc. (Hons) degree in Physics (with a minor in Philosophy) from Imperial College, London, he obtained a first-class BA (Hons) degree in Islamic Studies from the University of Birmingham. He completed his postgraduate studies (MSt, DPhil) at the University of Oxford, obtaining his doctorate in 2016. He is currently Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Muslim Philosophical and Theological Thought at the Al-Mahdi Institute, Birmingham. His thesis, Naṣīr al-Ṭūsī and the Avicennan Tradition: Metaphysics and Mental Existence, is currently being prepared for publication as a monograph. His other main areas of interest include Shia uṣūl al-fiqh especially of the post-Anṣārian period, and the influence of the monistic philosophy of Ibn ʿArabī and his school on Shia personalities from the thirteenth century onwards.
