Hi! I'm Alessia Romani, a Western Postdoctoral Fellowship Awardee and Postdoctoral Research Associate at FAST Lab, Western University (Canada).
My work lies at the intersection of product and engineering design, materials, digital fabrication, and sustainability, with a focus on circular practices and open design. My research experience and background merge product and engineering design with materials engineering and design, keeping a hands-on and application-driven approach.
Holding a Ph.D. in Design (with Honors, 2024) from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and more than five years of research experience in materials engineering environments, I am exploring the potential of openness — in materials, products, technologies, processes, and systems — toward more circular, sustainable, and regenerative futures!
