Open Museum Day at the Dutch Artillery Museum

Already some years a tradition is the open day at the Dutch Artillery Museum at Oldenbroek/'t Harde which is situated at the Army Barracks there. It is a terrific location as the buildings are end 19th century monumental buildings situated in an English style park and you can see the Veluwe moorland.

Part of this day is a small wargames day, so three clubs did participate with various historical displays. We took our 1748 Siege of Maastricht with us.

Warcon Gent february 2020

Warcon Gent was again a very nice show. It turned out that more clubs were present as were a lot of traders. Also a group of boardgamers turned up this year for the first time.

It is each year a very friendly show with a bring and buy (we didn't ought anything there  although some prĂ© ordered French Revolutionary figures (for Jans'collection) and 80 Years War for Peters one  were collected. Not as many as previous year but our lead mountain has already taken up to much space.

In our opninion there were a lot of great games played of which some pictures underneath.

We took our 15mm Siege of Maestricht with us which we already showed to the public at the last Crisis show. It got enough attention and favourable remarks from the public, so thanks for those who talked to us about the game, figures and rules. Hope to see you again.

So to the pictures of the show; as always just a quick tour as we have to man our table to get at least the impression that we play (and not just talk and talk).
La ligue des gentlemen Civilateurs with an ancient naval table; great to see.

The other one late medieval one was by the heavy brigade. As we like medieval games with all their splendor, we enjoyed these both games.

Pictures of other games of which we don't know the names of the presenting clubs; sorry for that.
As I said earlier, a lot of games weree very nice which the pictures underneath will show I think.

Pictures of our game we have kept to the last; of course we added some figures, new terrain pieces etc:

Crisis 2019: again a very nice show this year

As always, the Alde Garde tries to be at the Antwerp "Crisis" wargames show.
So this year we managed that again and had our new 15mm "Siege of Maestricht 1748" demo with us. Used rules were "Honours of War".
We, as can be seen at earlier blogposts, build a part of the Vaubanesque fortress works of Maestricht.

Of course there are a lot of 15mm figures which are used before but as every time, we expand the amount of figures on the table.
This time we portrayed a part of the defenses of Maestricht on the northern side as they were in 1748 (see picture underneath of the north side of the fortress) when the French army of Louis XV besieged the town.
The scenario of getting a supply column into the city was fictional.

Some pictures of our table:

Organised by the Tin Soldiers of Antwerp the show is the highlight for our wargames year and we were not disappointed with it.
It seemed to us that there were less visitors this year then last year but that could just be an illusion as we have only little time to look around the 2 halls.
Some pictures of the show underneath although on TMP a lot of other clubs have already put pictures of the show online.
Sorry that we don't have the names and pictures  of the demos and participation games of all the various clubs but we have had very little time to stroll the two halls.
