Therefore, any attempt to introduce a new technology in this field must be accompanied by sufficient studies and experimental data to provide the engineers and ship operators with enough data about the new fuel type used. This data has to be experimentally approved but in the first and preliminary stages of design of power plants working with new fuels it may not be available or feasible to make large scale experiments, so a computer program is used to give reasonably accurate data about the new design. The demand on energy production will be increased by increasing the population and sea borne trade. The use of other alternatives oil should start to replace diesel oil onboard ships. Hydrogen is considered a good candidate for such replacement.

Global energy consumption in the last halfcentury has increased very rapidly and is expected to continue to grow over the next 50 years. However, it is expected to see significant differences between the last 50 years and the next. This paper aims at introducing a good solution to replace or work with conventional marine power plants. This includes the use of fuel cell power plant operated with hydrogen produced through water electrolysis or hydrogen produced from natural gas, gasoline, or diesel fuels through steam reforming processes to mitigate air pollution from ships.

Fresh water produced will be used for drinking, cleaning and washing purposes contributing to the high demand consumption particularly onboard passenger ships. The main idea for the proposed fresh water generator is to use the waste heat recovered from scavenging air to provide the heat required to evaporate sea water under vacuum converting it into steam. Energy conservation system for exhaust gases in container ships has a lot of advantages which include, reducing fuel consumption for ships, increasing the overall efficiency, reducing the pollutant emissions which go out into the atmosphere. Results of the suggested fresh water generator indicated that for a typical installed propulsion power of 3350 hp consuming 10 ton of fuel oil per day, 8 tons of fresh water ...

Many researches had been done to find an alternative of the fossil fuel by using the renewable energy, natural gas and hydrogen that have better environmental effects than the fossil fuel. One of the hydrogen application is to use fuel cell and molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) are considered as one of the most environmentally propulsion system for marine and automotive travel in the future, Fuel cell main engine and auxiliary offer the potential of zero emissions combined with high efficiency .The molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) usually consists of stacks, hydrogen storage, air blower pump and cooling unit. The objective of this paper proposes to repower the system for main and/or auxiliary engines in Nile floating hotel (LADY MARY). The result of the study includes the evaluation of the effect of environmental and economical analysis for both traditional and new powering systems.

Many researches have been made to assess the suitability of using the hydrogen gas as fuel for internal combustion engines and gas turbines; this suitability was assessed from several viewpoints including the combustion characteristics, the fuel production and storage and also the thermodynamic cycle changes with the application of hydrogen instead of ordinary fossil fuels. This paper introduces the basic thermodynamic differences happening when changing the fuel of a marine gas turbine from marine diesel fuel to gaseous hydrogen for the same power output.
