Through these decades the records have played a significant and widely utilized role for statistical inference in parameter estimation, predicting future values, hypothesis tests, as well as stressstrength tests, and characterizing distributions. In this paper, the types of record values, some distributional properties, and statistical inferences of record values and their applications are reviewed. The purpose of this paper is to shed light on the role of record values in statistical inference. Therefore, we will examine this issue from two perspectives, the first perspective being estimation and the second perspective being prediction. These are through some of the most important lifetime distributions are Exponential, Weibull, Gumbel, Geometric, Pareto, Generalized exponential, Rayleigh, Lomax, and Nadarajah-Haghighi distributions. I hope that the findings of this paper will be useful for researchers in various fields and lead to further enhancement of research in record values theory and its applications.

This distribution is generalized of inverse Nadarajah-Haghighi distribution. It can be also considered as an extension of the inverse exponential distribution. Some of the mathematical properties of the new distribution are studied. The quantile function, density and distribution functions, moments, generating function and order statistics are obtained. The model parameters are estimated using the maximum likelihood method. Two real applications are used to show the flexibility of the EINH distribution.

The hazard rate function of the proposed distribution is useful and suitable for monotone and non-monotone hazard behaviors that are more likely to be observed in real-life situations. Statistical properties of the new model are studied including; quantile, moment generating, reliability, hazard, and reverse hazard functions. Further, the moments, incomplete moments, mean deviations, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves, order statistics densities are derived. The maximum likelihood estimation method is used to estimate the distribution parameters. The effectiveness and usefulness of the new distribution are accomplished through four different real-life applications.

Eugene et al. (2002) introduced the beta-generated family of distributions. By following the same logic, (Jones 2009) and Cordeiro and de Castro (2011) introduced the Kumaraswamy-generalized family of distributions. These two families have been extensively used to generate new distributions. The main purpose of this study is to collect and record all existing distributions that clearly belong to the families of beta-generated ‎and Kumaraswamy-generalized distributions.

This distribution can also be considered as a generalization of Weibull distribution. The hazard rate function of the new model has nice and flexible properties and it can take various shapes, including increasing, decreasing, upside-down bathtub and bathtub shapes. Some of the statistical properties of the new model, including quantile function, moment generating function, reliability function, hazard function and the reverse hazard function are obtained. The moments, incomplete moments, mean deviations and Bonferroni and Lorenz curves and the order statistics densities are also derived. The model parameters are estimated by the maximum likelihood method. The usefulness of the proposed model is illustrated by using two applications of real-life data.

Three sub-models of the new class are discussed. Main mathematical properties of the new family are investigated such as; quantile function, raw and incomplete moments, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves, moment and probability generating functions, stress strength model, Shanon and RĂ©nyi entropies, order statistics and probability weighted moments. The model parameters of the new family is estimated by using the method of maximum likelihood and the observed information matrix is also obtained. We introduce two real applications to show the importance of the new family.

This distribution can be regarded as a reciprocal of the generalized power Weibull distribution. The new distribution is characterized by being a general formula for some well-known distributions, namely inverse Weibull, inverse exponential, inverse Rayleigh and inverse Nadarajah-Haghighi distributions. Some of the mathematical properties of the new distribution including the quantile, density, cumulative distribution functions, moments, moments generating function and order statistics are derived. The model parameters are estimated using the maximum likelihood method. The Monte Carlo simulation study is used to assess the performance of the maximum likelihood estimators in terms of mean squared errors. Two real datasets are used to demonstrate the flexibility of the new distribution as well as to demonstrate its applicability.

It assumed that in Bayes case, the unknown parameters of Nadarajah and Haghighi distribution have gamma prior densities. Explicit forms of Bayes estimators cannot be obtained. Lindley approximation is exploited to obtain point estimators for the unknown parameters. The Bayesian and non-Bayesian predictions of both point and interval predictions of the future record values are also discussed. A simulation study is used to the comparison between the Bayesian and non-Bayesian methods. Analysis of a real dataset is presented for illustrative purposes.

Modified Weibull distribution, Applied Sciences, 11, 123-136.] are established. Further, a characterization of the modified Weibull distribution based on recurrence relation for single moments of k-th upper record values is presented.

Maximum likelihood and Bayesian estimators, either point or interval, for the two shape parameters of the exponentiated-Weibull distribution are derived based on lower record values. Bayes estimators have been developed under symmetric (squared error) and asymmetric (LINEX) loss functions. Numerical computations are given to illustrate these results.

This distribution extends a Weibull-Exponential distribution which is generated from family of generalized T-X distributions. Different properties for the GWED are obtained such as moments, limiting behavior, quantile function, Shannon’s entropy, skewness and kurtosis. Finally, analysis of several real data sets are carried out and thereafter compared the results with other distributions to illustrate the applications of the GWED.
"This article discusses Bayesian and non-Bayesian estimations problems of the unknown parameters ... more "This article discusses Bayesian and non-Bayesian estimations problems of the unknown parameters for the two-parameter bathtub-shaped lifetime distribution based on upper record values. The ML and the Bayes estimates based on record values are derived for the two unknown parameters as well as hazard function. When the Bayesian approach is considered, under the assumption that both parameters are unknown, the Bayes estimators cannot be obtained in explicit forms. An approximation form due to Soland (Soland (1969)) is used for obtaining the Bayes estimates based on a conjugate prior for the first shape parameter and a discrete prior for the second shape parameter of this model. This is done with respect to the squared error loss and LINEX loss functions. The estimation procedure is then applied to real data set and simulation data.
