CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Version 1 of the 2026 AKRA 4-Cycle (Dirt) Tech Manual has been released.

The manual can always be found for FREE under the Rules tab on the main menu at akraracing.com. A special printed version including only Clone and Ducar class structures and engine rules is available for $35 HERE.

There have been several updates to the Clone and Ducar engine rules. All updates from the final version of the 2025 manual are in blue text throughout the 61-page document.

Updates to Version 1 will be made throughout the year. When changes are made, the version number and date will be updated on the Tech Manual’s cover.

TIFTON, Ga. — As we work toward a unified engine package between AKRA and NKA, challenges occasionally arise that require thoughtful adjustment. The plate rules for the 2025 racing season have been one such challenge.

In response to feedback requesting slower speeds for junior classes, both organizations initially agreed to remove the largest restrictor plate in the junior class and shift the three smaller plates up a level. This decision was based on numerous suggestions aimed at balancing safety and performance.

However, it has become clear that this change has not been well-received. Both organizations have since received significant feedback requesting reconsideration of this adjustment.

Discussion of these concerns have led us to decide to retain the restrictor plates used in the 2024 racing season. To clarify, there will be no changes to restrictor plate sizes for either AKRA or NKA for the 2025 season. Rules for plate classes are as follows:

Junior Amateur: .375 red plate, and will no longer require the 5200 Rev coil.

Junior 1: .425 green plate.

Junior 2: .500 purple plate.

Junior 3: .550 blue plate.

For further clarification, this latest update to the plate size specifications is included in Version 5 of the AKRA 4-Cycle Tech Manual in Clone class structure on page 45.

We acknowledge that the recent changes and discussions may have caused some confusion, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Please know that we value the input from the racing community and we are committed to ensuring an enjoyable and smooth 2025 racing season.

Additionally, during our recent discussions, both organizations agreed to hold monthly review meetings to assess progress and plans for the future. These meetings will help us collaboratively navigate challenges and refine our vision for the 2026 season.

There have been several updates to the Clone engine rules and class structure additions to align AKRA and NKA rules as closely as possible.

All updates from the final version of the 2024 manual are in blue text throughout the 60-page document. Most updates are between pages 45 and 60.

“At this point in time we have done our best to parallel AKRA and NKA rules in our best attempt to improve our rules and help keep the cost down for the NKA engines as they conform to our package,” AKRA’s Don Gordner stated. “There may be a change or two as things play out, but I feel we are very close with this updated version of the 2025 Tech Manual.”
