Episode 2: The Fateful Night

Rin dreamt of the past when her father left for a war, leaving her with a red pendent. She wakes up from her dream, and blames herself for being unsuccessful in summoning Saber. Archer revealed that due to Rin's rough summoning, he has lost his memories of his previous life. Later in the day, Shirou drops by the dojo to check on Shinji, after promising Mitsuzuri Ayako earlier in the day. Being the helpful person, Shirou agrees to clean up the dojo for Shinji.
Meanwhile, after sensing the enemy earlier on, Rin and Archer prepares themselves for the enemy to strike after the sun set. Lancer showed himself and took out his lance, attempting to strike Rin. Rin ran away in order to find a more advantageous location for the fight. Archer, who was concealed all these while, finally revealed himself to Lancer. He took out his dual dagger and fought Lancer. Hearing loud noises coming from the outside, Shirou left the dojo to investigate. To his surprise, he saw the two servants fighting. Lancer noticed Shirou, and abandon the fight with Archer in order to go after Shirou. For seeing the fight, Lancer silence him by taking a swift stab at Shirou's heart. Rin found the body lying at the corridor, and told Archer to go after Lancer. Upon a closer look, she was surprised to find out that it was Shirou. Using her precious red pendant, she saved Shirou.
Back at home, Shirou began to wonder if what had happened was a dream or reality. He sensed the presence of Lancer, and using his magic, he strengthened the material of the poster left behind by Fuji-nee (aka Fujimura-sensei). Using that poster, Shirou defended himself, and attempts to escape. Due to Shirou's will to live, the summoning seal was slowly being drawn and a symbol appeared on his hand. After being cornered by Lancer, the seal activated and Saber appeared to fend off Lancer's attack. Shirou was left speechless, overwhelmed by Saber's beauty.

The pace of the story picks up!! There's a lot of actions and plot development in this episode, yet the episode is not rushed at all. This episode is left hanging with the appearance of Saber; I can't wait for the next episode.
