Toei Animation is coming out with Digimon's 5th season - Digimon Savers. Not much information on it yet though but here's the official Digimon Savers website - http://www.toei-anim.co.jp/tv/digimon_s/

On a totally unrelated note, i think i'm getting a little too old for Digimon.

Rin dreamt of the past when her father left for a war, leaving her with a red pendent. She wakes up from her dream, and blames herself for being unsuccessful in summoning Saber. Archer revealed that due to Rin's rough summoning, he has lost his memories of his previous life. Later in the day, Shirou drops by the dojo to check on Shinji, after promising Mitsuzuri Ayako earlier in the day. Being the helpful person, Shirou agrees to clean up the dojo for Shinji.

Meanwhile, after sensing the enemy earlier on, Rin and Archer prepares themselves for the enemy to strike after the sun set. Lancer showed himself and took out his lance, attempting to strike Rin. Rin ran away in order to find a more advantageous location for the fight. Archer, who was concealed all these while, finally revealed himself to Lancer. He took out his dual dagger and fought Lancer. Hearing loud noises coming from the outside, Shirou left the dojo to investigate. To his surprise, he saw the two servants fighting. Lancer noticed Shirou, and abandon the fight with Archer in order to go after Shirou. For seeing the fight, Lancer silence him by taking a swift stab at Shirou's heart. Rin found the body lying at the corridor, and told Archer to go after Lancer. Upon a closer look, she was surprised to find out that it was Shirou. Using her precious red pendant, she saved Shirou.

Back at home, Shirou began to wonder if what had happened was a dream or reality. He sensed the presence of Lancer, and using his magic, he strengthened the material of the poster left behind by Fuji-nee (aka Fujimura-sensei). Using that poster, Shirou defended himself, and attempts to escape. Due to Shirou's will to live, the summoning seal was slowly being drawn and a symbol appeared on his hand. After being cornered by Lancer, the seal activated and Saber appeared to fend off Lancer's attack. Shirou was left speechless, overwhelmed by Saber's beauty.

The pace of the story picks up!! There's a lot of actions and plot development in this episode, yet the episode is not rushed at all. This episode is left hanging with the appearance of Saber; I can't wait for the next episode.

After giving a speech to his graduating classmates, Ryou Masaoka struggled to the clinic, where we learnt that he has some form of genetic illness inherited from his mother, who passed away 2 years ago. Things took a big twist when Yumi Ikoma returned from a date with Ryou at the beach to find her extremely sick father dying before her eyes. With his last breathe, Yumi's father said something about getting to Alvis. Returning home from her father's funeral, Yumi found her father's PDA, which contains a key to Alvis. Upon touching the key, Yumi started hearing her father's voices in her head, telling her to head to Alvis.

Opening the gate to Alvis with the key left behind by her father, before her eyes were giant mechas known as Fafners (Titan-model TSX-01). The surprise continues when Yumi found Ryou, together with Karin and Soushi, in Alvis. Due to the fact that Yumi's father died on the day Ryou took her to the beach, she now holds a grudge against Ryou for her father's death. To complicate matters, both Ryou and Yumi are partnered up in the Crossing system after being enlisted to become Fafner pilots.

The countdown for Plan L, which was instigated by Yumi's father, started. Taking a total of 60 days, the team will have to fight off the invading Festum, holding them off before Plan L is put into action. However, during this period, pilots who were fighting along Ryou and Yumi were killed off one by one due to the assimilation phenomenon which was caused by the prolonged usage of the Fafners. Yumi then requested for the combat duration of each pilot to be shortened from 15 mins to 10 mins in order to prevent the exhaustion of the pilots. Her request was revoked by the commander, giving the reason that he wasn't informed of an escape plan. Ryou stood up for Yumi, saying that he believe her father had made plans for the survival of everyone in this mission. That earned back her respect.

Finally, after 60 days of waiting, Plan L is executed; to self-destruct the island where all the Festums have gathered, and escape using a submarine. Ryou and Yumi took off in their Fafners trying to hold off the Festums while the rest escape through the submarine. However, the submarine was destroyed and Ryou and Yumi had nowhere to go as the Festums were camping for them. In order to protect the secret location of the islands, they have no choice but to wait for a rescue team. On the other hand, Karin in her Fafner Mark Zwei with the Siegfried System, was sent out to rescue Ryou & Yumi. Initially, she was called off until Soushi convinced Commander Minashiro to allow the search to continue. However, both Ryou and Yumi started to assimilate, but not before both of them confessed their love to each other. Right before his final moment, Ryou recorded a final voice message to Alvis, before activating the Fenrir system as a Festum approaches him.

Four months later, Ryou's Fafner was salvaged from the depth of the ocean, together with the voice recording. At the end, Soushi left the islands to check on the Solomon project.

It's been quite a while since i watched something this sad. Through out the whole show, i couldn't help but think that Ryou is Shinn, while Yumi is Luna; the impact Gundam Seed Destiny have on me. Personally, i like this one shot Fafner special a lot - there's a good plot, great characters and exciting mecha scenes, nothing comes better than "Right of Left".

The episode opens with a battle between two figures. Fast forwarded by 10 years, is an introduction of the battle that is about to begin - the time has come for 7 magicians, together with their "servants", to battle against each other for the one and only Holy Grail.

Next in the scene is Emiya Shirou, a boy who is living alone in the mansion that he inherited from his stepfather. Even since the death of his stepfather, Fujimura-sensei has being his guardian, while Matou Sakura started helping him with his chore since his injury a year ago. As the story continues, we learnt that Shirou knows the existance of magic, but is a very lousy magician himself. His only skill is to be able to examine the internal mechanism of an object just by touching it.

Just before the episode ends, Archer revealed to his master, Tohsaka Rin, that something big is going to happen in the city soon...
-----

Compared with the Curtain Raiser (prologue), this episode is pretty boring, as the whole episode is spent on introducing the characters. Hopefully, the next episode will be more exciting, though there's a high chance that it will be another characters introduction. On a side note, I have never played the original Fate/stay night H-game before. Hence my comments are purely based on the anime only.
