There are a variety of empirical methods that allow scientists to look at brains in action, and t... more There are a variety of empirical methods that allow scientists to look at brains in action, and the number of possibilities has increased dramatically in recent years with the introduction of new neuroimaging techniques. Neuroanatomy is the study of structure and function relationships in the brain and nervous system. As this encompasses a study of both macroscopic and microscopic structures, a variety of histological tools have been developed to enable that endeavor (Shaffer, Catherine.2019, February 27). The writer will consider the various techniques that psychologists use to learn about the brain. Each of the different techniques has some advantages, and when we put them together, we begin to get a relatively good picture of how the brain functions and which brain structures control which activities.

By Temba Munsaka Adolescents by nature have a high energy vigor and risk-taking proclivity to the detriment of their social and sometimes personal life. Most of them only think about their actions after the fact. The urge to engage in a risky behavior is massive and Adolescents by nature have a high energy vigor and risk-taking proclivity to the detriment of their social and sometimes personal life. Most of them only think about their actions after the fact. The urge to engage in risky behavior is massive and compounded by peer pressure and substance abuse, looks like there is a little solution in sight.
According to various scholars, adolescence can be defined as a developmental stage whereby individuals are involved in somehow reckless and risk-taking behavior, which is more common during this developmental stage than any other stage in one's life. A of studies is in line with the argument that adolescents engage in many types of risky behaviors, such as delinquency, sexually risky behavior, substance abuse, and dangerous driving. On the other hand, risk behavior can be explained as a form of behavior in which individuals are involved with potentially harmful results which may carry long-term or short-term effects. All human organizations are complex and one way of understanding their characteristics is through... more All human organizations are complex and one way of understanding their characteristics is through complexity theory. In systems thinking we recognize the existence of systems and sub systems in society. Work environment is made up of the organizational structure as a system, units as a systems, departments as a system, teams as systems and even individuals as systems. All these sub systems working towards fulfilling the organizational high level goals. The theory of systems thinking focuses on how the dynamic sub sets relate to each other. The concept of learning and knowledge quest is dynamic and can be best related to systems thinking. Individuals that stop learning die. Individual systems that fail to learn and adapt die. Because individual sub sets feed into the bigger picture, the bigger picture (organization) dies when its sub units stop learning. The environment is dynamic and forever shifting and mutating and only organizations whose deliberate policy is to encourage staff to learn will survive. A learning organization encourages its employees to learn and in turn it is the corporate that benefits, ceteris paribus. Yet many organizations have no budgets that support learning. In this fluid environment, learning is as critical as hiring qualified employees. This paper will interrogate ways for organizations to learn and the benefits thereof.

Psychologists are divided on what really is the cause of aggression in human behavior. This has evoked the inconclusive nature v nurture debate on the origins of aggression. The psychodynamic theory is a psychological theory Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) and his later followers applied to trace and explain the origins of aggression. Sigmund Freud’s psychodynamic theory is founded on the assumption that human behavior is propelled by thoughts and feelings that lie in our sub conscious mind . Aggression refers to action or behavior intended to cause harm to a person toward whom it is directed . Thus aggression manifests itself in varied forms which can be verbal attacks, violent acts and threats to unleash destruction . However, the psychodynamic theory has been criticized for over emphasis on innate personality at the exclusion of external effects in an individual’s environment which may predispose them to aggressive behavior. This paper analyses Sigmund Freud’s psychodynamic theory in explaining the origins of aggression. The paper further argues that the psychodynamic theory has its own inherent shortcomings when it comes to explaining the origins of aggression. A wholesome explanation of the origins of aggression can be achieved if theories such as the externally stimulated aggression and learned aggression theory are also considered as they offer complementary alternative aggression explanations.

This article critically examines the process of strategic management formulation within the sector. Suffice to say that most NGOs only started focusing on strategic management as a management technique in the last twenty years. The major challenge faced by these organizations is that it is difficult to measure the output of their services they offer. The concept of strategic management is mostly applicable to organizations that are client or market focused. Most NGOs however, are not client oriented but resource focused (unfortunately incorrect). Most NGOs spend the first quarter of each year focusing on strategic management planning and it would be critical for serious fund managers to have an informed and reasoned opinion.

William James contributed much to the development of functionalism and modern psychology. He prop... more William James contributed much to the development of functionalism and modern psychology. He proposed the theory functionalism as a revolt against the weakness of structuralism by Wundt and his student Techerner. The theory could help to explain how human behaviors can be influenced by the functions of the mind not structures of the mind. William James borrowed the concept from Darwianism of nativism. He believed in nature as the cause of behaviors which influence the brain to cause different types of disorders if damaged. James made functionalism popular in America which caused him to be regarded as the father of American psychology. His work influenced so many researchers especially cognitivists who were studying memory. The weakness of functionalism influenced the rise of behaviorism in early 20th century. It was also criticized for not being psychological and lacking objectivity. This paper seeks to examine the three contribution of William James to functionalism and its weaknesses.
