Spring 2025

In the Spring 2025 edition of Airside International, we provide the latest GSE industry developments in the pushback tractor, apron bus and second-hand GSE markets, as well as aircraft washing operations.

At the end of last year, Airside’s coverage focused heavily on the technological innovations driving safety and efficiency on the ramp with the increasing adoption of performance-monitoring tools such as artificial intelligence and telemetry, in addition to the rise of autonomous GSE.

Continuing this coverage, we interview one company that has developed an autonomous crew shuttle bus and is looking to introduce its solution for the transport of airline passengers from the gate to the aircraft.

In this edition’s ‘New product showcase’, we learn about one manufacturer’s “ergonomic lifting device” that is designed to “bridge the gap” between the rear end of a belt loader and a baggage cart, and was unveiled for the first time in September at GSE Expo Europe 2024.

From this year, Airside is introducing a new ‘CEO interview’ section, where we interview GSE bosses about the latest innovations on the market, and get to know more than what their companies’ boilerplates tell you. The first of this series focuses on a German high loader manufacturer.

Meanwhile, we continue to bring you the regional market reports that we introduced in 2024 – this time an in-depth analysis of airport development projects in North America – and our staple ‘GSE buyers’ interview, where Airside talks GSE trends and procurement with ground handlers around the world, focusing in this edition on Dubai.

Of course, the aviation industry has its challenges. The global labour shortage is hampering the ground handlers as they look to rectify recruitment and retention. And the lack of adequate charging infrastructure at airports is continuing to slow down GSE electrification efforts. Airside delves into these challenges in this edition, too.

We hope you enjoy the issue.
