Background
Learn about who we are, what we do and how we work to improve air quality across the Kansas City region.
AirQKC is a program of the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC).
MARC works with local governments, businesses and residents to collaborate on policies and strategies that address threats to our regional air quality.
Air Quality Monitoring
MARC has been a local partner for AirNow.gov since 2000. As a local partner, MARC tracks regional air quality through a network of sensors and issues the SkyCast forecast from March to October.
Community education
MARC also provides air quality education through public awareness campaigns and in-person engagement within the community.

Data and surveys
The MARC Air Quality program conducts an annual Air Quality Survey of residents in the metropolitan Kansas City area.
Planning
The Clean Air Action Plan offers proactive community-based strategies with specific voluntary actions which local governments, businesses and individuals can take to reduce particulate matter and emissions that cause ground-level ozone. Implementation of plan elements also aligns with a larger set of sustainability priorities that guide the region’s growth and development.
Policy
The Air Quality Forum is a policy committee comprised of local elected officials, air quality and transportation agency personnel, and business and community group representatives. The Forum reviews regional air quality issues and makes policy recommendations regarding those issues to the MARC Board of Directors and the states of Kansas and Missouri.
