So, who am I? 1st, a slasher. :-) Also, a 40-something agnostic -- wordy as hell, married with children (but appreciative of the ladies), geeky and rather (rather? ;-)) socially-phobic, and have I mentioned the devotion to slash? :-) It bears repeating. :-) I tend to take both sides of many issues, and am made up of countless contradictions; "contradictionary" relects my philosophy that contradiction is both a deep-rooted part of my character but also a life-style choice. :-) I'm much more of a fan of slash than I am a media fan -- I am more likely to spend my time reading the slash than watching the show.
Latest take on LJ, fandom, & friending:
I've been in the process of redefining my LJ approach for eons now, but this is where things stand of 10-10-09.
Fandom & Friends-locking: I don't flock purely fannish things, and don't intend to do much flocking from here on out, but a lot of my journal is flocked for more personal stuff. However, I'm not doing much personal stuff here anymore, for a number of reasons but mainly privacy concerns.
Friends: There are several schools of thought about adding people as friends--should you ask first, should you add someone just because they added you, etc. My approach is this: if I find your journal interesting for whatever personal reason of mine, I may add you to my friends list, without asking you. However, if you don't want me to list you, either leave me a comment or drop me an e-mail and I'll delete you, no problem. Just because I add you, I in no way expect you to add me, unless you decide that you find my journal interesting as well, or if you are willing to let me see your friends-only posts without actually knowing me. If for whatever *your* reasons are, you want to add me as a friend, that's just fine with me, no need to ask.
Filters & Friending-back: I have learned that for me, filtering means never reading whoever I filtered. If I friend you, I at least skim your posts. This approach means that because I have like zero time ever, if I don't think I'm going to read your posts, I'm not going to friend you, because I've found that I simply can't handle a big flist and the stress isn't worth it. Nothing personal at all, just for my own sanity.
Tagging: Even though I love it when *you* do it, I don't, though I take the odd spell of doing so. ;-) If you are looking for my fic (mostly TS), check my memories or my site (which still isn't full rebuilt after moving from Geocities, oops...)
Comms I mod:
ts_secret_santa - have run the TS Holiday Event since 2006; it's always lots of fun and you should check it out both during the Nov-Dec timeframe to get in on the fun but throughout the year if you need some good stories -- they aren't all holiday-themed.
ts_news - inherited this one, and it's co-mod'd by spikedluv - one-stop TS shopping, it's IMHO the broadest TS comm on LJ, at least of the old guard
ts_fresh_air - created this recs comm to showcase newer TS fic; co-mod'd by fluterbev - this only gets intermittent traffic, so go rec something! :-)
and even though I'm not a mod and haven't even posted there in eons :-(, I always have to give a shout-out to my beloved sentinel_thurs :-)
Because I think it's really cool, here's the Halloween mini round 2009 participation banner for Rounds of Kink -- I don't know as I've ever "earned" a banner before, so I must put it here, as it is shiny. ;-) (Tricks, Treats was the offering.)
