Slava is a pioneer in mid-infrared fiber technology, with a career spanning over four decades in specialty optics and spectroscopy. After earning his PhD in solid-state physics, he founded art photonics GmbH, which became a global leader in fiber-optic solutions for industrial, medical, and scientific use. Following its acquisition in 2024, he co-founded Art Fiber Systems (AFS) to bring next-generation PAT solutions directly to end users. Slava is a recognized innovator, EPIC Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, and an active member of numerous international photonics organizations.

Dr. Viacheslav Artyushenko

Boris is a leading figure in analytical chemistry and optical sensor technologies. After earning his PhD in Vienna, he worked at UT Austin and later joined Georgia Tech, where he also directed the Focused Ion Beam Center. Since 2007, he has been a Chaired Professor at Ulm University and, since 2021, a Director at the Hahn-Schickard Institute. His work focuses on mid-infrared sensors, micro- and nanofabrication, and advanced analytical platforms. With 490+ publications and 21 patents, Boris is recognized as one of the foremost experts in his field.

Project Director

Polina is an applications specialist with a strong background in molecular spectroscopy, device development, and hands-on work with advanced fiber-optic probes. She has contributed to multiple EU-funded projects at Ulm University, developing portable MIR spectrometers and supporting product demonstrations across Europe. With experience in R&D, application support, and customer communication, she brings a rare mix of technical depth and practical insight. Polina is fluent in four languages and holds a PhD in photonics.

Brad is the Managing Director and cofounder of KAX Group, specializing in multivariate data analysis software and PAT solutions for industry. With over 25 years of experience in chemometrics, DoE, and spectroscopic applications, he has led major projects across pharma, petrochemical, and agriculture. Before founding KAX Group, he advanced globally used chemometrics tools and contributed to pioneering PAT programs at Pfizer and Sigma. Brad is a recognized expert trainer, author of several key texts in the field, and holds a PhD in biospectroscopy and advanced chemometrics.

Martin is a leading expert in pharmaceutical Process Analytical Technology with nearly 30 years of experience. He previously served as Research Director at the UK Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre and as a Professor of Practice at Strathclyde University. Earlier, he led PAT development at Pfizer and contributed to Vertex’s platform for the first FDA-approved continuous manufacturing process with real-time release. Today, through his consultancy, he advises global pharma companies on fast-track CMC strategies and advanced PAT-driven manufacturing solutions.

Friedemann is a leading expert in pharmaceutical biotechnology and bioprocess engineering with over 25 years of experience. After earning his PhD in Tübingen, he joined the German Research Centre for Biotechnology (GBF) in Braunschweig, contributing to EU-funded projects as researcher and manager. He later moved to Vienna to coordinate the Austrian Center of Biopharmaceutical Technology (ACBT). Since 2010, he has been professor for cell culture technology and development at Biberach University of Applied Sciences, focusing on optimizing mammalian cell culture monitoring.

AFS develops and tests fiber-optic spectroscopy systems that help companies find the most effective in-line method to monitor and optimize their production processes.

Inline spectroscopy delivers real-time data directly from within the process, eliminating sampling errors and delays – resulting in faster adjustments and better process efficiency.

It’s an integrated setup that combines several spectroscopy methods — ATR-absorption, Raman, Fluorescence, and UV-Vis-NIR reflection/transmission – in one platform. This allows direct comparison and selection of the most effective technique for a given process.

Our systems operate across the 0.3 – 16 µm spectral range, covering UV-Vis, Near-IR, and Mid-IR — all accessible through robust fiber-optic probes.

Any chemical, biochemical, or industrial reaction can be analyzed – including harsh, high-temperature, high-pressure, or corrosive environments. The fiber probes are designed to withstand vibration, pH extremes, and aggressive media.
