About us

Mission

The mission of the OpenMod4Africa Network is to advance sustainable energy development in Africa by promoting the use of open, African-tailored modelling tools, building local expertise, and fostering collaboration across research, industry, and policy.

Network Activities

The Network aims to sustain and advance the OM4A open-source energy modelling toolbox, foster African-led collaboration and capacity building, promote knowledge exchange, and ensure open access to quality data tailored to Africa’s energy planning needs.

Governance Structure

The Network’s governance combines capacity building, expert peer review, and open-source tools and data, guided by a technical panel of African and international experts to support credible, collaborative, and regionally grounded energy modelling across Africa.

Who is involved?

The Network is a collaborative platform uniting African universities, research institutions, energy industries, policymakers, and international organizations to advance sustainable energy development across the continent. Key participants include transmission system operators (TSOs), government agencies, and global partners from West, East, and other regions of Africa.

Get Involved

The Network is open to all individuals and institutions committed to energy modelling and sustainable development in Africa. Whether you’re an expert, organisation, or stakeholder, we welcome your engagement.
