The African Energy Modelling Network is a vibrant, open community of African energy modelling experts and stakeholders dedicated to advancing sustainable, secure, and competitive energy systems across the continent.
Through collaboration, knowledge exchange and capacity building, the network strives to foster innovation and empower decision-makers with evidence-based insights derived from state-of-the-art energy modelling tools developed by the OM4A project, and that are applicable to the socio-technoeconomic contexts of African countries.
The mission of the African Energy Modelling Network is to develop, maintain, and promote the use of an open toolbox (OM4A Toolbox) of energy and sectoral models tailored to the African context. It conducts training programs and supports research initiatives aimed at addressing Africa’s energy challenges through the use of OM4A Toolbox.
The network seeks to drive sustainable economic development and facilitate a fair transition to renewable energy solutions by building capacity among African experts and fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and policymakers.

The Network comprises African universities, research institutions, energy industries, policymakers, energy experts and other stakeholders interested in sustainable energy development in Africa. Key players include TSOs in West and East African countries, government officials, and representatives from international organisations.
The network is open to any expert, institution or key player interested in participating. Should you wish to partner, or promote an event, please contact the African Energy Modelling Network Secretariat.
We welcome all participation and support in-kind or financially.
