The Ash, the Elder, and the Hen Elm

 Played a game of ToW the other day for the first time in probably nine months or so. I brought a VC list almost entirely comprised of Ethereal creatures and then crumbled turn 2 when my general got shot by a magic-ized cannon. Yay :) ( relevant tumblr post ) But I couldn't get over one critical thing: I can't field an entire army of ethereal creatures. This is an injustice. I must correct it. Thanks to R. for help brainstorming the initial idea for this article after surgically murdering me in what still has to be one of the more interesting games I've ever played. Thanks also to the Warhammer Fantasy redditors who pointed out issues (notably u/Fool_of_a_Took).  So! End of another year.  The Bloggies are coming back , and I am shamefully going to plug my own better posts of the year under the guise of a review of what I've been up to. After all, last year's winner/this year's host Clayton Notestine recommends 'a social media account to pester people with links' as part of his winning strategy, so I can't be on tooooo bad of a footing. BUT! Because self-promotion is obviously evil, I'm going to morally counterbalance and make the post a bit more interesting than that, by following on from what a few people did last year and listing out the blog posts from other people I'd be nominating for each category with some short commentary. Then I'll go over some of my better posts, so people have a chance to look back over them before the Bloggies submission deadline. Since my last miniatures review  I've finished painting two things. I've assembled, fixed, touched up or started painting a lot more, notably getting very close to finishing a certain big creature I discussed in my first ever post . But what can you do? Life gets in the way. I'm pretty pleased with these two.  1: Samual van der Stultus, 5th Lord Macclemere  So heavily kitbashed as to be totally without a singular identity... wire armature, green stuff, a head from Wargames Atlantic's French Partisans and a cane made from an old Tomb Kings spear. Lots of static grass and flock, including mixed in with the Green Stuff. I have no explanation for this, really. Apart from watching the TTS team's narrative playthroughs, I have no particular interest in or desire to play Turnip28. I think it crosses the grimdark event horizon for me where I no longer see why anybody would get invested in any story you tell using it. That said, this Victorian postcard is very funny. So he...
