baaaaa

Your main fandom of the year?
Still Harry Potter. Harry/Draco or Severus usually. Sometimes Lucius, Tom, or Luna.

Your favorite film watched this year?
Ack. I actually didn't see many in the theaters. But I still love The Hobbit. Smaug, Thranuil, riding swine. !!

Your favorite book read this year?
I've been reading so much more fanfiction. But I think it would have to be Parasitology by Mira Grant. It's a a series of three, two of which are already out. Haven't read the second yet (did I mention fanfic?), but the first was awesome.

Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
I love me some alt channel and Broadway channel, but John Barrowman's latest CD has to be my favorite. His voice is like a nice warm blanket. mmm...

Your favorite TV show of the year?
I think I'm getting less tolerant of drama, so I've been watching more reality-like and science shows. Favorite, I think, is Project Runway. I really liked Z Nation, as well; they had a great action:drama ratio. Trying to catch up on Doctor Who, but I was not really a fan of Eleven and Clara. So Clara still being there, I think, is what's making me continue to put it off.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
hmmm....maybe that there is a resurgence of LOTR fanfic.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Most of the LOTR fanfic I'm coming across are hobbit+-dwarf. :( In that fandom I prefer to read about the elves.

Your fandom boyfriend of the year?
Still Tom Hiddleston!! But, um, maybe Thranduil. Possibly the cranky Scottish dwarf from the third movie. hee!

Your fandom girlfriend of the year?
Scarlett Johanson (-sp?) Although Zoe Saldana is pretty fierce.

Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Fandom related? The Hobbit third movie.
Not fandom related? When I saw my new filly trotting. :) Pretty.

The most missed of your old fandoms?
I don't know that I miss any. I still revisit ones at times. Although I used to be a bigger part of the Strachey mysteries fandom, which was kind of fun because it was so small. I just don't feel that one anymore, unfortunately.

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
I want to dig deeper for more elf fic, but it's a bit frustrating to find what I want (for once, it's not the big pairings).

Notes.

*So, I thought my dog Sally was still scared yesterday from the fireworks the night before. No, no she wasn't. My giant 154 pound Sally dog is afraid of the fly strips I hung from the ceiling of the porch. *sigh*
This evening, at least, I didn't have to drag her to dinner. I love my dogs, even if they're not the bravest. :)

*Skipped walking Tess on the 4th. The horses were running around like idiots before I put them in for dinner. After dinner, though, for a while when my neighbors really started with the fireworks both horses stood in their runs watching them. Apparently horses can like fireworks, too. Or they were wondering what the stupid humans were doing. lol

*Tess is doing better. Since she had trouble being driven from her right, and I can't run fast enough to stay behind her when she turns to face me, I have been leading from the right a lot. Also had to go to an improvised pressure halter-God love bailing twine-which really helped.
Today I led her in very small circles, which she initially tried to baulk at from the right. I ignored her and kept walking. She took a few mild tries at resisting, but behaved more or less after a few circles. From the left she did great. By the end I had gotten a few circles from the right, while not as relaxed as the other side, at least not actively resisting.

*I'm still carrying my endostick anytime I'll be out when she's out. I keep it under my arm with it sticking out the back. She's hit it a few times, and seems to be doing better. Although she does still like to sneak up if possible. *rolls eyes at weirdo filly*

*I'm liking the fly predators I got this year instead of the death from above. The flies got a little worse the last few weeks, but I think it's no worse than it ever was with the death from above. Also, it helps with flies at the house-since they eat the fly eggs, which decreases the total number.

*I did get a few sticky fly traps for the barn. One said to hang somewhere outside of the barn, no more than 4 feet from the ground. I did. And I caught some bugs. But - note to self - filly plus fly trap equals destroyed trap. I didn't see it, but I'll bet she investigated and got her nose stuck. At least it was only $9.

*Why is it that I am mesmerized by watching the fly strips, and seeing how many I'm getting? /easily entertained

*Choir is over for the summer. I was planning on going to church anyway, but now I'm thinking. ... I'll probably feel guilty if I don't go, but I feel awkward when I have to sit in the congregation. I'm not the most gregarious of people (I know, shock, right? not. lol) so filling the time between when I get there and church actually starts is odd if I can't just read. And I'm trying to be more social, so reading is out.

*Also, I'm tired. Which can be helped by me going to bed. Wheee.....

*Oh, and now I really can't go to comicon this year, even if I really wanted to. I just have the heating/air guy a check so he can redo all the ducts in my house. So, no moolah. :(

*I used to wonder why certain ducts in my house didn't work. Thought maybe they were blocked somehow-dirty? My sister said ducts only need cleaning when the guy says they do, so I thought they were blocked for a reason-??
Well, they were. Turns out they laid them out cheaply, where they T or Y off, and by the time it gets where it's going there's no air left. Nice. No wonder so many of them don't work because I have a house that's long, not square.
The guy needed the money now because he's getting a volume discount with a bunch of orders. So yay.
Wonder how much less energy it'll use when the ducts are working right.

*Now to bed!

*May ride tomorrow. Wish me luck I don't wimp out. lol And that the knee behaves.

Comicon 2012 Photos

So, there are 30 photos this trip. I will post one here, then a link to the album so as to not break the internets. ;)

These are the bears I have been looking at while walking from the trolley for years. lol They belong to the hotel next to ours. Still not as cool as my dad's carved bear. ;)

Personal:
So, when I'm interesting/dating in someone, I tend to imagine what it would be like with them in my life. Like if we were together, or if they lived with me. Does anyone else do that/used to do that when they were single?

That's one reason I won't date just anyone because if they don't fit, then there's no reason to basically waste my time (so many other things to be doing lol).
May be one reason I fall so hard/so much.

For the first time in a long time I'm currently interested in two people at the same time, and it's weird. Maybe it's good for me to allow me to be able to pull back from that.

Fandom:
Okay, so on Hawaii 5-0 I like Catherine, but hate her with Steve. Most likely because I ship Steve/Danny. I only tolerate Steve/Danny/Cat stories if Cat is basically handing Steve over to Danny.
I understand about her being a good character, but why can't she be a character on her own, without having to be supported by Steve-like if she meets the rest of the team, and becomes friends with them, as well.
I don't ship Steve or Danny with anyone else at all, especially not Kono.
Which is weird, because I totally don't mind seeing my other big ship-SGA John/Rodney-with other people (except Rodney/Keller because it was out of nowhere, and Keller is a horribly unethical doctor), like John/Cam, Rodney/ONeill. This may be because it's no longer on the air, and I don't have to see one of my pair actually with someone else. Partner betrayal/infidelity is a big no for me, so 'seeing it' on screen is what I think upsets me. And I don't want to not ship Steve/Danny because that's a big part of the fun of the whole thing (besides Kono being a total badass rookie, and Chin being just badass).

I was also wondering why I adore slash over het. I actually recently read a genderfuck(adore genderfuck) where Danny was a girl, and she got together with Steve. Liked the story up to where she got pregnant, and it was all happily ever after-perfect little all-American family unit. That's not what I will ever have, and really don't want. I think one reason I really like slash is because it's a different kind of family/relationship, and I can relate to it better. Also, you know, hot guys.
