**Well, most of the outside things. Did them today. And now I am so sore. lol
Really, though, can't I just have a sprinkler that doesn't break the second I try to use it on my arena? argh! This is the third time I've had to hand water it (since I restarted watering it in Feb). It's frustrating because it doesn't water it quite enough, and the hose weighs a TON, especially after it's got sand all over it. /whine
Managed to clean the barn (composting) toilet, and may have figured out why the bottom clearing bar wasn't moving. We'll see.
Even had a little energy left to clean the dog poop in the yard (have skipped it the last several Sundays). Poor dogs, though, no energy for a pasture walk (because Sally is old and can't walk too far).
Did *not* weed eat the front walkway, so it still looks like the weeds are going to eat whoever tries to go down it. Wonder why the FedEx guy drops things at the garage....lol I really need to have it landscaped, so it'll be easier to take care of, but it's pretty much last on my priority list. No, you wouldn't want to be my neighbor.
**Anyone else listen to the most recent Welcome to Nightvale? OMG creepy! Even for Nightvale. Cecil was perfect. Good Morning Nightvale talked about good actors and listening to them perform on their last episode, and yeah, right there.
**What else? I finished reading Devolution by Max Brooks. Boring at first, as the main character is initially stereotypical vapid SoCal, but otherwise I would totally recommend. (psst-it's about a Sasquatch attack).
Finally started The Faceless old Woman Who Lives in Your Home. I read so much fanfic that I get through books slowly.
**Work is somewhat busy. Lots of well checks, but also a few sick.
**What I'm watching recently-World of Dance, Main Cabin Masters, about half of the house remodel shows on TV.
**My new priest made me cry again today. This time it was a story about a kid taking care of his siblings.
My problem is that I have things to say, but by the time I get to the computer I am just too tired/too wrapped up in a story/etc to write it down. *sigh* I will continue to do my best.
A few things.
*Moose, my well-built siamese will let me only have so long in the bathroom. If I go past his time, he will come up and put his paw on my knee until I pet him. Then he'll go away for maybe a minute. Lather, rinse, repeat.
*I'm in a book club with some church people going over the book White Fragility. It's okay, and has some interesting opinions. It just seems that a large portion of the ladies just seem to be focusing on white guilt, which is their guilt, and feeling sad, maybe? I don't know. But 6 weeks of this without any other (in my mind)more productive discussion is not what I had in mind when I joined. It seems to me that when I add in my two cents, and it's not downtrodden they don't give it as much weight.? (could be in my head) I was thinking about why they seem to be like that, and wonder if it's because many of them are from rich families in the south. I am from a tiny faming family in the PNW. Maybe I should try to be more understanding of their background? I wish there were a few more people from other places there because when we get broken into the small groups on zoom I'm usually with the older ladies (which is great, I love their stories, but, see above).
*Our new priest started today. (We have church on facebook live). He made me cry. First day. lol He was talking about how nothing can separate us from the love of God. Even a plague. And how our community is only physically separated, but how it still causes pain in us. I hope he keeps giving great talks, but maybe not with the making me cry. lol
*I keep going to bed later than I should because of good stories. Pesky stories. But it leads to me being tired, cranky, and a little down.
*We're working on flying changes with Zolar. I'd like to move up to 3rd level in dressage, and the changes start there. My next show may not be until September, if that, so we have a lot of time. Got our first one, first time, right to left, all four feet at the same time last night! Yay! Now we have to get the left to right. Right now he thinks the cue means jump up and land the same way. lol (we started with using poles)
lol I'm watching the Chopped cooks tasting Natto in their entree basket, and it's hilarious. I tried it when I was in Japan lo so long ago, and bleh. The texture was creepy, and the flavor was not great. The judges said even in Japan it's an acquired taste.
Also, I think the people who think up the Chopped baskets are *insane.*
21 (So, I had this copied, and then erased it from the doc before I pasted, then copied something else like a dork.lol) But, the gist was what's your go to book genre?
My favorite genre is apocafic, with zombies being at the top. Also like science based books, eg. just finished The Andromeda Evolution in record time, and adore Mira Grant's books.
*for some reason this week has just not been that good. Not anything really big, just a lot of little things. And I've been not paying attention to things as closely as I should/usually do, and that's leading to more frustration. eg. dropping the little pills that I have to give to two of my critters. Different pills, similar tiny size.
*I have a new NP student this week. I think I don't like them as much as PA students because they are a bit more pushy? maybe. They're used to working with doctors, so they're more chatty, even when I'm grumpy. This one, though, has been honest about what she doesn't do well, and what she wants to learn, so that was great. Also, turns out there's a connection via my riding instructor here. Small world.
*I spent an hour. An. Hour. Putting in one set of orders for a kid to get an outpatient infusion at one of the hospitals Friday morning. New system. Turns out when they told me 'oh, it's easy, we'll get you these favorites, and you can click on them, no problem' they were full of shit because the favorites you make on inpatient orders don't cross to outpatient orders-WTF, it's still in the hospital. The nurse offered to do it for me again, but this time, it was personal. Hopefully I can go back next week, and find some way to favorite the ones I made this time. Or perhaps next month I'll have more lead time than, say, 5 minutes. At least I know which version of the program I need to log into this time (and no, it's not the same as the one I use inpatient because this computer system is annoying and not well thought out-which is nicer than what many others think of it). Did I mention that once again the computer claimed the pharmacy didn't have the drug? Yeah, lying liar who lies. Also thinks I can't get a CBC with manual diff. Unless I choose the right version. Which is different each time.
*But, I managed to catch up on my clinic patients by 11:30. Yay me!
*I've been somewhat frustrated with riding this week. Zolar isn't bending well. Started Tuesday with my lesson, hanging on the right rein. Last night I did walk only lateral work. Started in a circle, which was okay, but he was more cranky than usual with a shoulder in to the right on the wall. Tonight I did conditioning (just regular walk/trot/canter/trot/walk around the outside for a certain time each), and he was mostly okay until right lead canter, where he was hanging, oh he was hanging.
I've thought maybe it was the conditioning, because we're mostly just started, and it's working more than usual. Or maybe because when his neck is sweaty it's hard to property massage it afterward. He is more weak on the right side canter (with my left hip). Going to see when I can get an appt with the chiro.
*I'm working on strengthening my left hip more, as well as my neck. Turns out it may be that my neck is too weak is what's causing my tightness/headaches-at least when I drive the truck for lengths of time. So my chiro has me doing basic neck strengthening. (And boy did that cause a nasty headache the first two weeks. Still taking Aleve every day, but not nearly as bad).
And now he has me using a roller. It's like a big rolling pin made of firm foam, and I roll it between my back and the floor. Holy crap does that hurt. Even when I'm using the smooth one instead of the nubbed section. I suppose my person is tense. /duh.
*I finished the Mira Grant book, and have started a new one called Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things. I got it because of the blurb. I often don't read about other people's mental illness because I'm afraid my brain will see something and go 'hey, that's a great idea!' But this one is hilarious. I almost fell off my bike while reading the first few chapters. That's right, my bike that sits on a trainer. Indoors. And is held up without my support. There are parts where I think it's very cool, and feel better about myself. Still some parts I hide from my brain. But definitely amusing.
*Into The Drowning Deep is the Mira Grant book. Loved it so very much. I still think about it. So well written. And dense, but in a good way. And science. Could barely put it down. Although now I'm really glad I have no desire to explore the open ocean.
*And I should go to bed. I have a duet in church tomorrow. Well, more like sequential solos, but still fun. Was in church today singing for a deacon ordination for a very cool gal. She was in my EfM class my first year, then left to go to deacon school. I was glad to have been there today, but makes for a busy weekend. Especially after we worked last weekend.
Give me a second, and I'll whine some more. :D
Sorry this is long. I always think about writing when I'm elsewhere, then get sucked into fan fiction when I'm at the computer. Well, that, and it can be hard to type with a lapcat. They get jostled, and glare at me.Now they're cuddling on the couch next to me. And ignoring Bogey, who's on the top of the couch.
*well, almost. the only ones left are the really old battered ones.
*there is a pause in the Zolar saga due to weather. I did lunge him maybe 1.5 weeks ago, and he was an ass, but eventually listened. But since then the weekends have been freezing-ass cold, or church stuff. lol No, really the last two weeks, the beginning of the week has been at least in the 50's, then starting Friday snow, or rain/freezing rain. Wed night I have choir, and Thur I have EfM. Whee!
*Christmas in January! Last week I got home one day and had three packages. One was horse and dog stuff from smartpak.com, one was a new Seanan McGuire book, and the last was the whole set of liturgical mysteries by Mark Schweitzer. A friend from church introduced me to them (read - forced me to read one) and they are awesome!!! Hilarious!! It's about a guy in a small N. Carolina town that is the town sheriff, the organist at the small episcopal church, and fancies himself a mystery writer ala Raymond Chandler. They're most understood if you have experience with episcopal church (and probably catholic), and music. But I think it'd still be amusing, at least.
*PIctures! From the 'ice storm' we had. Mostly rain. Although there was ice on the fences and trees. The temp hovered at about 33F, so the roads were fine.
I totally suck at posting when I'm not doing the posting every day thing. Oh well.
First, my floors are finished. Yay! It's a lot to get used to. Until now I've had carpet almost everywhere. I've gotten a bunch of throw rugs, a hall runner, and a few big ones. Can't put them all down yet because of the next thing. But, I have learned that big rugs really do slip on hard floors without the rug keeper thingies.
Second, there are still areas of my walls that need to be fixed. Both from the toilet mishap, and from small areas of previous water damage. So, my master toilet area and the area near the guest room shower are still to be done.
Third, when my library wall was fixed, J had to paint the whole room. And some paint got on the new floor. It still just agitates me so much. I got most of it off fairly easily. He said the rest of it would come off, and that he just didn't have time since I got home early (he tends to work only when I'm not here, which is fine with me). I hope he doesn't forget since he is gone this week. And really, it's not as easy to see now that I've chilled out.
Fourth, I was supposed to get my new toilets in before this week, but there wasn't any time. :( But still, new toilets! Water saving, still good flushing, and not sitting on the floor. wheeee!
Fifth, I had this horrible spasm in my shoulder on Saturday that yanked some vertebrae in my neck out. Yeah, no fun. So, I went to my therapist, er chiropractor today to have it put all back. And whine about the house.
Sixth, may have found a massage therapist, but will have to see next time he comes into the clinic. (he's also a drug pusher)
Seventh, the EfM class I'm taking is totally crazy. So many things I didn't know, or had no idea of.
Last, this is all totally using up pie pieces I don't have, so my anxiety and reflux absolutely suck. But maybe after whining to my chiro, and putting some of the books away today, my outlook will continue to be better. Let's hope. :)
Finally done taking the books of the shelves and culling. The cats are totally glad. Moose has plopped himself down by my side very speakingly.
-Found some mold under the cheap bookcase (thank God it was that one). Luckily it only ruined a few older books. Waiting on Blackmon Mooring to give an assessment, but my friend says it won't be a big deal.
-Started at around 1170+- (some are stashed in other places-not many, though)
-Ended up with about 750 Wow!
-There are so many plastic bags of books along the walls and my kitchen island it's not funny. I'm passing them through Hastings for buyback, then the rest go to the women's shelter. So far Hastings hasn't said anything with my frequent trips, but I'm waiting. lol
-Even managed to part with the rest of my college texts. Yes, I know, don't judge me.
-The fans finally completely left after 5 days. Blessed silence. I kept wondering why the barn was so different in the morning until I realized there were no fans there. lol
-Blackmon Mooring was very good to come check my fans/house around my weird schedule (esp since it was my clinic weekend)
-The repair was estimated under the magic number for the mortgage company. (Really, though, how can you fix your house if the management company has the freaking money?) But, I still have to send the check to them first so they can sign it.
-Decided I wanted a different company to do the flooring, so went there and managed to pick out a tile and a wood-they had so many freaking woods, it was nuts. Almost picked one tile until I found out it was one of the really variable ones (each tile will be very different from the other). I'm glad I got what I did-looks like slate.
-I love that company so far. The little girl helping me came to my house after work to measure, and was very patient and helpful as I was picking things out.
-The one benefit to paying out $$ for flooring (besides having nice new flooring) is that they take the credit card I can get points on. :) Here's hoping my bank doesn't get upset when I pay the remainder in a few weeks. (They know I'm a very exciting person, so when that huge charge came up they flagged it, even though I had it preauthorized. At least they're looking out for me.)
-They had to order everything, so I am still sans flooring in the back. And I'm only cleaning the carpet when it's really bad by the door. Wohoo! They're going to put tiles near the doors, and in the bathrooms and master closets, and wood everywhere else. I'll just be left with the distressed pink tile in the kitchen/dining/laundry. That may be replaced later, but it involves moving appliances and more $$.
-Oh, to inform you who haven't done this. The advertisements on TV about flooring are crap. Unless you can put it in yourself and get the glue for free, the quotes are all $4/square foot more than they say. (so the difference between the $2.99 and slightly more expensive flooring, not such a big deal.) I'm glad my little gal told me this-in the spirit of disclosure as it wouldn't have changed my choices.
-I've been cleaning out my bookshelves in the library. So far have managed to cull quite a few-yay me! And have gotten enough from buyback at Hastings to pay for a bunch of Seanan McGuire books. :) The rest of the culls-and some other stuff-have gone to the women's shelter.
-Still have a ways to go with culling and cleaning out stuff.
-I have 4 whole days off this weekend! I've already had two, and there are two more whole days! Crazy. Although Tuesday I have some appts-hair and riding lesson. Cool, eh, though? lol
