This paper aims to investigate the digitization of TDs in three selected academic libraries in Oyo State, southwest Nigeria. Design/methodology/approach-Descriptive survey research design was used for this study. The instrument for data collection was the questionnaire. The study comprised 78 professionals and paraprofessional librarians in the three selected university libraries in Oyo State. Findings-The study revealed that digital preservation of TDs in university libraries is at the developmental stage. Also, the study revealed that most participants strongly agreed that the main purpose for embarking on the digital preservation of TDs was to influence the web ranking of the institutions. Web archiving was the widely adopted method of digital preservation in university libraries. Poor information and communication technology infrastructure, absence of policy and poor funding were identified as major challenges militating against the effective digital preservation of theses in the libraries. Hence, it was recommended that the management of university libraries should be more committed to providing substantial funds to meet the financial obligation for digital preservation initiatives. Originality/value-The study provides insight into a case study of digitization of theses and dissertation i academic libraries in three selected universities to serve as a basis for further research.

A total number of Seventy-three (73) SMEs operators were randomly selected as the sample size. The study revealed that there was a high response rate to questionnaires among librarians (98%). Furthermore, the study showed that majority of the respondents (77.6%) indicated professional obligation and benefits of research as reasons for questionnaire completion. The study also found out that majority of the researchers who administered questionnaires to librarians were library and information science students and professionals. Length of questionnaires, request for very personal information, complex language, and poor questionnaire construction among others were identified as inhibitions to question completion among respondents. The paper concluded with recommendations that would help boost high response rate to questionnaires among librarians and other professionals.

This study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The study population consisted of eighteen (18) academic libraries from public and private universities in SouthWest , Nigeria. Purposive sampling techniques was adopted to select librarians who are in charge of Collection Development of their respective libraries. Descriptive statistics involving frequency and percentage distribution were used for data analysis. The findings of the study revealed that individuals 13(72.2%) are the major source of donations with strings attached and further revealed that 6(33.3%) indicated that the string attached by donors is mostly dictating where the donated materials should be stored or displayed. The study concludes that library managements should publish the library's policy on gifts and donations and also should not hesitate to reject donations that have stringent conditions attached that may be difficulty to abide by and accept donations that will not have strings attached in a bid to provide information to users but should always ensure good quality, recency and relevance of such materials.

The study adopted a survey research design and data was gathered randomly from four selected university libraries. Data collected through a self-designed questionnaire were analysed using frequency counts, simple percentage and cross tabulation. The findings revealed that the highest percentage of the university library users preferred OPAC to card catalogue because OPAC can be accessed anywhere in the campus unlike the card catalogue that can only be accessed within the library, OPAC saves time, convenient and more user friendly compared to card catalogue. Most prominent challenges identified associated with the two include lack of privacy when searching the OPAC, and need to wait until it is ones turn to use the OPAC. This paper examines the information literacy skills of postgraduate students of Ajayi Crowther Un... more This paper examines the information literacy skills of postgraduate students of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo. The research is pertinent considering the fact that the university operates a fully residential campus for her undergraduates and thus they have full and unlimited access to all the facilities available in the library. For the postgraduate students however, there is the choice of campus and off campus accommodation. The fact that a large percentage of the postgraduate students are workers also means that they have less time to spend on campus and in the library. There is therefore a need to know the proficiency of their information literacy skills so that the library can fill in any vacant space to enable them make effective use of the available information resources. The survey design was adopted with respondents comprising all the postgraduate students of the University, since they are a manageable number. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data collected. Findings showed that the respondents have a very high perception of information literacy skills; indicating that they had attended some information literacy programmes in the past. However, the study revealed that they still had certain challenges in making effective use of the library's information resources. The study therefore recommends that the T.Y. Danjuma Library, should organise and carry out information literacy programmes for postgraduate students, same way it is done for undergraduates. However, this programme should be tailored to suit their level of study and enhance their ability to carry out research.

About 42% of the variation was accounted for by the independent variables. The study therefore recommends adequate motivation, provision of ICT facilities and encouragement of good cognitive styles as ways through which workers creativity could be improved.
