Chainsaw Comics Anthology
Feb. 9th, 2011 | 12:41 pm
Chainsaw Comics’ ten year anniversary is coming up in August and to celebrate we are putting together our first print anthology! The book will be edited by the four artists on Chainsaw Comics’ current roster: Aaron Brassea, Bren Collins, Nathan Stryker, and L. Nichols. The theme for the anthology is fear. You can make your comic with any take on this theme.
Length: We would prefer for submissions to be between 1 and 5 pages, but we’re willing to print something longer if the story genuinely requires more space.
Formatting: The book will be printed at 5.5″ by 8.5″, with a live area of 4.75″ by 7.75″. Pages should be saved at 600 dpi for grayscale pages or 1200 dpi for pure black and white. Please save your file as a bmp or a gif (these work best with our publisher).
Content: We would love to see a huge range of genres and styles, so go with however the theme works best for you. As with the website, we would like to keep the book mostly all ages friendly, so no excessive swearing or nudity. We are willing to make some exceptions if we believe it is artfully done and integral to the story.
Cover: We will also be accepting submissions for a cover image. The image can be up to 5.5″ x 8.5″ (plus a .25″ bleed), but keep in mind that we will need to fit the title and possibly contributor names on the cover as well. The cover image can be full color, and should be at least 600dpi. Please send cover image submissions as a psd or pdf file.
Deadline: We would like to have the book available in August in time for the 10 year anniversary, so all comics must be received by June 30th. If you can send your comic in earlier, it will be very helpful for us and could possibly help your chances of getting in the book.
By submitting a comic for Chainsaw Comics Presents, you are granting Chainsaw Comics the rights to publish it in the book, and to use it and your name for promotion of the book. You retain all other rights to your work. Submitting to Chainsaw Comics Presents does not guarantee that your image will be included in the final book.
Due to the number of artists included in the book, Chainsaw Comics cannot afford to provide a free copy to each contributing artist. However, a reduced artist price will be offered upon publication.
Please send all submissions to [email protected], along with your name, the title of the comic, your website, and a short (two to three sentences) bio for the back of the book. Please do not include your website in your comic, as we will add it under the first page.

My entry for Phil McAndrew's contest. The hardest part about this was growing my facial hair long enough.

Six Face
Mar. 17th, 2010 | 05:02 pm
music: The Honorable Mentions - Pound for a Pound
Somewhat inspired by the way I draw myself in My Life in Scribbles,
losttoy started a meme challenging artists to draw a face only using the number six. I decided to do mine using actual text instead of hand drawn/ written.

This was my submission for the Bear Fight anthology. It didn't get in, so I figured I'd share it here.
