Sony has now officially unveiled the new PlayStation 5 Astro Bot console bundle. While the Mushroom Kingdom took over the internet yesterday for Mario Day 2025, we wanted to touch down this morning to make sure folks interested in picking up a new PlayStation console didn’t miss this one. The question is, do you get that awesome Astro Bot controller? And is there anyone out there wants a copy of the 2024 Game of the Year winner not already have one?

Now just days away from the official PlayStation Pro release date, Sony has taken to the official PlayStation Blog to detail which games will be taking advantage of the console’s upgraded power at launch. After such a long wait for the eventual official reveal and live pre-order listings on Sony’s upgraded pro-grade console, it can sometimes be easy to forget why we were all so stoked for it – the games. While we already detailed some of the titles that will see enhancements with PS5 Pro previously, today Sony is now giving up a much larger list of games ready for the pro jump come November 7.

As we reported yesterday, Sony is hosting the next State of Play this afternoon and we are here to watch it along with you. We knew there was going to be 30+ minutes of news and updates on upcoming PS5 games and PS VR2 titles, as per Sony’s official announcement, but it looks like an update on the PlayStation Store might have given up, at least, some of the surprises we would have been in for today as well (more details on this below). We aren’t expecting to see any new hardware, considering how busy Sony has been on that front over the last week or so with PS5 Pro and the 30th anniversary PS1-style consoles and controllers, but either way it all starts very soon and you can follow along down below. 

Sony is celebrating 30 years of PlayStation with the release of Astro Bot this Friday, a “nostalgic homage to the original Gran Turismo,” digital soundtracks from classic PlayStation games, and the new “Shapes of Play” collection, among other things. But what better way to usher in 30 years of PlayStation then with the reveal of PS5 Pro and a subsequent launch? Am I right? And…the new 30th anniversary announcement might have just revealed the look of the long awaited pro-grade PlayStation 5 too. Head below for more details. 

It has been a long and arduous journey wading through the countless number of rumors and potential leaks on the now fabled PS5 Pro. It does appear select developers already have the PS5 Pro dev kits, and as we approach the holiday season, it’s starting to seem more and more likely that the new PS5 Pro unveil is coming sooner than later. New rumors from what appear to be reputable sources suggest not only do we have an upcoming State of Play showcase coming next month, but also the long-awaited unveil of PS5 Pro. Just ahead of next month’s official debut of Concord and its PvP battles on PS5, the new official limited edition DualSense Wireless Controller has arrived. Sony says the design “showcases the colourfully vibrant nature of this new and spectacular sci-fi” experience with pre-orders now live roughly one month before the game itself goes prime time. 

Update: Today’s State of Play showcase is about to begin!

It, for some reason, felt like we were going to have to wait until the big summer PlayStation showcase for the next State of Play-like broadcast, but we are now scheduled to get one. Just after the 2024 Days of Play sale went live with up to $100 off PS VR2 hardware, $50 off PS5 consoles, and up to 30% off PS Plus membership upgrades, not to mention loads of game deals, Sony has now taken to its official PlayStation Blog to officially announce the next State of Play Showcase. After a few major, and more than just loose rumor, reports over the last few months, it would appear the PS5 Pro is all but imminent now. Last we checked in, the technical overview of the still unconfirmed new console had surfaced, and it now looks as though even more credible sources have received a complete list of the machine’s specs. We previously suspected the pro machine would be very much like the current-generation model, just with even more powerful internals, which still appears to be the case, and Sony is now priming developers to ready titles for the console (or ensure existing games are ready to take advantage of the added horsepower).
