The Tension We Are
Addressing
We live in a Moment shaped by converging
Transitions
The world is shifting from an industrial economy built on growth, scale, and extraction – towards a Well-being Era, where systems must regenerate rather than deplete.
But intention alone is not enough.
This transition isn’t sectoral. It’s systemic.
It redefines how capital moves, how institutions behave, how leadership is shaped, and how we measure progress as a society.
Today, climate systems are accelerating beyond prediction.
Trust across sectors is breaking down.
A vast intergenerational transfer of capital is already in motion.
And Asia – rising in both influence and imagination – is emerging as a central force in shaping what comes next.
WHAT WE DO
NO.17 is the Bridge between
Worlds
Yet what the world lacks is not ideas, ambition, or purpose — but coherence, coordination, and cultural infrastructure. This is the strategic gap NO.17 was built to bridge.
NO.17 is a living nexus for capital, collaboration, and consciousness.
We are not a fund, a consultancy, or a think tank — but the infrastructure behind systemic transformation.
NO.17 is a living nexus for capital, collaboration, and consciousness.
We orchestrate philanthropic, catalytic, commercial, and institutional capital to turn vision into execution.
We build trust-based architectures across sectors, generations, and geographies.
We design conditions for action at scale — beyond pilots and white papers.
We prototype systemic portfolios aligned with planetary well-being.
Our belief is simple:
If we can re-pattern how capital flows, we can regenerate how systems behave.
A LIVING MODEL
From Projects to Systems: Regenerative Blueprints for thriving
Communities
Around the world, communities are confronting the collapse of natural ecosystems, brittle infrastructure, and outdated economic models.
At NO.17, we don’t just fund projects — we co-create regenerative blueprints: living systems that bring together science, capital, policy, and community stewardship.
These aren’t isolated interventions. They’re working models of a Well-being Economy — rooted in people, place, and planet — designed to regenerate life, livelihoods, and the systems that sustain them.
01
Biodiversity Regeneration
Land — Ocean
We restore marine ecosystems through community-led protection, sustainable fisheries, and biodiversity recovery — treating the ocean as living natural capital that underpins long-term resilience.
02
Economic Sustainability
Industrial — Well-being
We create regenerative livelihood pathways, from greening industrial value chains, and leveraging industrial assets to create new economies - enabling stable incomes while reducing dependence on extractive practices
03
Resilient Infrastructure
Innovation — Regeneration
We strengthen essential systems such as clean energy, water access, and circular waste management to build climate resilience and community self-reliance.
04
Community Flourishing
Urban — Rural
We invest in people — education, healthcare, skills, and local governance — so communities can steward their own future with dignity and agency.

OUR ETHOS
Consciousness is the
Mother
of Capital
This insight from our founder Frederick Chavalit Tsao is not just a belief — it is our operating principle. Capital does not just carry money. It carries consciousness.
How we design capital systems — their intent, structure, and flow — shapes how the world evolves.
At NO.17, we integrate inner development with outer execution:
We measure not just ROI—but total Return on Investment (tROI) —across seven forms of capital.
Our Impact
Philosophy
At NO.17, how we deploy Capital is an
Expression
of who we are
We don’t chase ROI in narrow financial terms. Instead, we pursue total Return on Investment (tROI) — an integrated view of value across financial, systemic, enabling, and learning dimensions, spanning all seven forms of capital.
Every NO.17 initiative is grounded in a regenerative logic that seeks to:
01
Re-organise
Systems
Restore harmony and dynamic movement between human activity and natural systems — as one interdependent living system.
02
Re-build
Trust
Restore connection and collaboration by strengthening the relational fabric between sectors, generations, and cultures.
03
Re-imagine
Prosperity
Restore purpose by redefining wealth through the lens of well-being and consciousness — not accumulation.
How We Do It
Our Four Signature
Layers
NO.17 Impact Education
We co-design education programs, experiences and training with NextGen family stewards, business leaders, and changemakers who want to elevate their consciousness and impact in regenerative leadership and systems design.
NO.17 Impact Advisory
We co-curate journeys with families and institutions seeking design their own transition portfolios — across business, philanthropy, and capital strategy.
NO.17 Impact Funds
We co-build innovative financial structures, Creating blended capital vehicles with families, DFIs, and investors to unlock scalable, regenerative opportunities proving we can deliver impact while doing well.
NO.17 Systems Platform
We re-imagine what working across governments, coalitions, and markets means to shift entire ecosystems — from fragmented projects to coordinated, catalytic full ecosystem systemic execution action.
We are able to do this because 120 years of family business allows us to play at every stage of the money value chain, all the way from early stage to institutional and sovereign capital we sit at the intersection of different capital postures:
From grants, venture philanthropy, catalytic tools, de-risking, and commercial execution, to industrial offtake, institutional and sovereign — all within a single family ecosystem.
THE FRAMEWORK
Why
“17”
?
We carry the name of one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the spirit behind it. Goals 1 to 16 cannot be achieved without partnerships (17).
SDG 17 calls for collaboration across governments, business, philanthropy, and civil society to enable all other goals.
But partnerships alone are not enough.
They require shared consciousness, shared infrastructure, and shared language — a cultural operating system that turns aligned intent into coherent action.
That is what NO.17 exists to build.
We honour SDG 17 by evolving it
LEGACY
Born from a Century of
Stewardship
With 120 years of Tsao family enterprise behind us, NO.17 is built on deep experience across the capital value chain — from grants to venture philanthropy, catalytic tools to commercial execution, institutional to sovereign.
This legacy allows us to activate capital as a continuum — not in parts, but as one coherent, purpose-led system.
